Born and raised in small town in Nova Scotia, Craig was the first of his immediate family to attend and graduate high school and then University. He was awarded with a bursary to attend and IT College right out of high school, but later decided that the field chosen was not for him, instead decided that a business program would be a better suit for him, so he attended University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing. Years later, he obtained certificates & certifications in Event Planning, Human Resources, Managing Conflict, Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion, Project Management, and prior to the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, he had been attending Université Sainte-Anne to brush up on his conversational French.
During the first lockdown of Covid-19 in 2020, Craig searched for things to do, as we were all confined to the four corners of our homes, he took initiative while taking his puppy for walks and started cleaning up his community, volunteering at the Covid-19 testing clinic, and with a local bakery assisting in making baked goods. As many, Craig followed the Covid-19 news and briefings daily and tried to make sense of what was happing in the world around him and decided to jump right in the middle of Covid-19 and work with the teams with Covid-19 response.
Being interested in politics throughout his life, during the fall of 2020, Craig decided to run in the Municipal Elections' in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a District 7 Councillor for Halifax Downtown South. Craig has/d inspirations to make the neighborhood and Halifax for which he lived better. For example, meeting the needs of his community (with safer streets, greener parks, better parking, and designated bus & bike lanes throughout the busiest streets downtown.) Attracting more diversity and inclusion within the community, promoting small businesses, while honoring Halifax's history, and innovating for the future, plus supporting the arts sector (both culture and community.) Although Craig did not win, he did not lose. Craig has learned a lot from this journey.
